A Curated Selection of Websites and Multimedia

Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council

The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame website redesign focused on modernizing the platform while preserving the organization’s legacy and credibility. The project involved restructuring the information architecture to make inductee profiles, historical content, and event information easier to access and navigate. A clean, responsive design was implemented to ensure usability across devices, with improved typography, image handling, and page hierarchy to better showcase archival material and storytelling elements.

On the technical side, the rebuild emphasized performance, maintainability, and content flexibility. The site was optimized for faster load times, improved SEO structure, and streamlined content management within WordPress, allowing non-technical stakeholders to update entries and announcements efficiently. The result is a more scalable, user-friendly platform that supports ongoing growth, enhances discoverability, and better represents the Hall’s national significance.

Users found the standard Ultimate Member search utility both visually inadequate and functionally limited, failing to meet the expectations of the Professional Organizers in Canada membership. Its search relevance, filtering capabilities, and overall usability did not align with how members needed to present their services or how clients expected to discover them.

Collin rebuilt the system from the ground up, replacing it with a geolocation-driven directory that maps all members and delivers weighted search results based on user-defined priorities. The new engine supports location-based discovery, differentiates between in-person and virtual services, and improves result relevance through customized ranking logic. A translation layer was also implemented to ensure accessibility across language preferences, resulting in a more accurate, user-aligned, and scalable member search experience.

Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council

Collin created and maintained the website for Canada’s Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council for over 23 years. The bilingual site represented the entire Canadian Motorcycle Industry and its work with manufacturers, distributors and the riding public.

The site was hosted on our private server at our leased co-location center and then moved to WPEngine in 2020. This site is no longer live as the organization rebranded to MotoCanada in 2023 but is available incompletely and partially on the Web Archive with missing graphics pages and code.

motorcyclejobs.ca

The Board of Directors requested a Motorcycle Jobs website so Collin provided them with this WordPress implimentation that automatically used RSS feeds to pull jobs off of other websites and often hosted several hundred jobs country wide. The site was a favourite of our member company dealers as they could use it  to advertise for seasonal and long-term employment at no cost. This was a full featured implementation that provided an essential service to the Canadian motorcycle community for over 20 years.

gomotorcycling.ca

GoMotorcycling was a separate MMIC lifestyle oriented website that was designed to attract people to the motorcycling lifestyle and educate them about safety, types of motorcycles, the community, laws, training, motorcycle tracks and insurance options. Collin designed the site and worked with David Grummett on the material, editing and updating over several years.

The Motorcycle Shows

The “Race Wrangler” WordPress plugin was developed as an extension of the full site build for RACE Moto, designed to address the operational complexity of managing rider participation across events at Shannonville Motorsport Park. After establishing the original site architecture, the plugin was created to unify race entries, licensing, training sessions, and special event offerings into a single structured system. It replaces fragmented WooCommerce configurations with a centralized model, allowing complex combinations—multi-day bookings, bundled packages, and tiered access—to be presented clearly and consistently.

From a technical standpoint, the plugin abstracts WooCommerce product variables, custom fields, and listing logic into a controlled framework tailored to the organization’s workflow. This reduces redundancy in product setup, enforces consistency in pricing and availability rules, and simplifies ongoing content management for non-technical users. By integrating directly with the site’s original build, Race Wrangler provides a scalable, maintainable layer that improves both administrative efficiency and the rider purchasing experience across the full event calendar.

The Motorcycle Shows

Collin was brought on as a volunteer to take over the Alcoholics Anonymous Toronto website approximately two and a half years ago, inheriting a platform that was visually outdated, structurally inconsistent, and functionally unreliable—particularly on mobile devices. The site had no meaningful search engine visibility, lacked standardized design elements, and relied on outdated plugins that introduced both performance and security risks. Collin executed a full rebuild and stabilization effort, implementing a responsive design system, consistent graphic standards, and a modernized content structure that significantly improved usability, accessibility, and discoverability.

Beyond the website itself, Collin acted as a de facto IT backend resource for the GTA AA organization, supporting infrastructure, troubleshooting, and ongoing system reliability during his tenure. He introduced disciplined update and maintenance practices, mitigated security vulnerabilities, and ensured the platform could be sustainably managed by non-technical stakeholders. He stepped down in September 2025 to focus on client work and further education, leaving behind a stable, scalable, and materially improved digital presence.

The Motorcycle Shows

In September 2018 Collin led the planning process and wrote an RFP for the construction of a new framework for The Motorcycle Shows websites, including some specialized software for handling badges at our shows. We had to have bilingual websites for Moncton, Montreal and Quebec City as well as English sites for our Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver shows. All sites were updated on a regular basis to reflect our planning and upcoming shows.
